Healthy alternatives to dieting that work
Let's face it, people dont like diets. Diets usually fail. Nobody wants to stick to a diet. Basically, diets blow. I have found many ways to lose weight, tried and true, that can work for almost anybody if you want them to. Let's look at the main components needed to achieve weight loss. Then you can decide which ones you like and you can work them into your everyday routine.
First is water. Drinking half your body weight in water each day will lead to healthy weight loss. I know this seems like a lot but if you think about all the other *junk* you drink everyday and just replace that with water, youre well on your way. Instead of picking up that soda, fill up a glass of cold water. Choose water over juice, it doesnt have all the sugar that juice has. Nor does it have any calories. If you work, take a gallon jug of water with you and drink it throughout the day.
Next is fat content in the food you eat. Try to keep it to 30 grams of fat per day (for an average sized woman, a bigger man can probably eat a little more.)
Carbs give you energy. Dont cut them out, no matter what "they" say. If you work out, eat carbs beforehand.
Protein is always a good additive. You can find protein in nuts, peanut butter, and dairy products such as; cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.
Excercise. Try and add a little bit of walking to your lifestyle. A few nights a week walk for 30 minutes. After a month of this, youll notice a significant change in your shape. Things start to fall back into place where they belong.
Diet pills are not all that great. Ive tried some of the so called best out there and they might as well have been sugar pills. The only ones Ive found that really do anything are the ones with ephedra in them. Those were pretty much banned because a few people took them the wrong way and died. If youre responsible and are careful, there are a few places you can find them online.
Watch what you stick in your mouth. Seriously. Dont pig out on crap all day sitting in front of the television. Instead of cookies, have fruit. Instead of 3 big meals in one day, have 5 or 6 small ones. Snacking is great.
Most people can eat whatever they want to and not gain weight if they excercise a few days a week.
Stay away from alcohol. Alcohol is packed full of sugar and calories. Beer, wine, liquor, it's all bad for someone trying to lose weight. Think about it. They dont call it a beer gut for nothing.
Common sense. This is HUGE. Just use your best judgement. If it feels wrong, it probably is. If you feel fat after eating, youre probably eating too much. Dont patronize fast food restaurants.
The three things I did after having my first child to lose weight were; 64 ounces of water everyday, walking fast 45 minutes 5 nights a week or more, and the 30 grams of fat per day. 20 pounds dropped like that in a month. My body went back to it's normal state and I felt a thousand times better, inside and out.
Excercise is also great for your attitude. So, smile, walk and dont forget to eat.
