I have purchased the Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet and thought I would take this chance to share my thoughts on the diet. I was little discourage by the name at first, as it seemed like a simple rip off of the "for dummies" series and they simply did not want to have to pay royalties. That being said, the diet sounded awesome and I needed to lose some weight.

First, Fat Loss 4 Idiots gives you two options - Vegetarian or Regular. After this you are taken through a brief multi-choice session where you pick out your favorite 14 foods. These 14 foods are then used to make up your 11 daily meal plans (4 meals per day). One day is a fruit and vege day only - 2 meals of veg and and 1 meal of fruit (only 3 meals on this day).

After the 11 days you are allowed 3 days of cheat meals (basically eat whatever you want).

The meal plans are very simplistic. Here is the recipe for the "chicken" meal:

Boneless and skinless.

You may prepare chicken in any way you like (such as baked, grilled, broiled, etc). You may use Barbecue Sauce if you like. You may also use any other condiments or seasonings mentioned in the diet rules.

To be honest, eating a single chicken breast by itself is not the most appetizing of meals!
Carbs, Proteins, and Fats

Fat Loss 4 Idiots is not low-carb, or necessarily low-fat. In fact it's indescribable. Each day the meals seem to rotate e.g. Day 1: 1 carb meal, 2 protein meals, 1 low-carb+protein meal Day 2: 1 carb meal, protein meal, protein+carb meal, protein meal

There are no portion restrictions. No calorie limits. Then again with nothing but "cottage cheese" for a meal - it's kind of hard to overeat.

Fats? Every day there are sources of mono and poly-unsaturated fats - mixed nuts, cottage cheese. Saturated fats will come from eggs and the chicken breast.

Vegetarian Options

Fat Loss 4 Idiots has vegetarian meal plans. If you choose this, then soy products (soy chicken, soy beef, etc) will be substituted for their meat counterparts. There also seems to be a much higher proportion of nuts (unsalted peanuts, macadamias, walnuts).

With that description of the diet, I must say that I lost 16.5 lbs in 21 days on this diet without exercise. And it was not water weight because I drink a ton of water every day. This was a diet I could do relatively cheaply, because it did not require me to but any crazy pre-packaged food or take any diet pills. The diet even allows you to cheat occasionally. No diet seems so bad when you know that soon you will be able to cheat a little bit. I must say that overall, I am extremely pleased with the diet.
