Losing weight forever

How many times have you been on a diet in your life? Too many to count? Me too! Unfortunately, I can not share with you a "secret" or miracle pill, but I will share with you what is working for me.

I am 5'1" so every pound shows! I have not always been heavy but like many people had trouble after having children. I am 33 and had my first baby at 17. Before I had kids, I weighed a healthy 112lbs. When I started my program on March 1, 2009 I weighed a whopping 196lbs! I had tried almost everything to lose weight. Counting calories, liquid diets, pills, too many to list. The reason I am explaining my life history is because every time I would search I would find the results but not how they got that way in the first place. From the time I was 18 until now nothing was sustainable.

We all know now that 3500 calories=1 pound. If we are honest we also know that the only true path to real SUSTAINABLE weight loss is through hard work and dedication. There is no lose weight quick scheme that will ever work. So here is my plan:

Breakfast Activia fat free vanilla yogurt 7:30am

snack handful of blueberries, grapes or any piece of fruit

lunch sliced turkey with lettuce, tomato, light mayo on orowheat 48% fiber bread

dinner grilled chicken breast with salad (no dressing but salsa is okay) or any dinner with roughly 2-300 calories

Now obviously you can change the food variations to fit you, your weight and lifestyle. Yes the calories are fairly low and you may need more. Do not starve yourself or it won't work!! If anyone tells you, you can lose weight without cardio they are LYING!!!! You have to excercise to lose weight. I joined a gym (for the third time in my life) but a funny thing happened, if you actually go it starts to work!!

Strive for 30 min of hard cardio 4-5 days a week. (biking,running, swimming, dance ect.) Also do 30 min of weight training 3-4 days a week. You do not have to join a gym but then you must be super dedicated and have no excuses for not excercising.

I have found a class at my gym that has changed my fitness life forever!! It is called Zumba! Research it, try it and love it!!!! It is a latin based salsa dance type fitness class. So much fun and the hardest workout I have ever had.

I now weigh 169 lbs and it keeps coming off slowly but SURELY!!

If you need more advice or just a pep talk let me know. Commit to at least two months with little or no cheating and I promise it will work!! Good luck and God bless!!
