Sodium allows that the body to store additional amounts of water. By decreasing the amount of sodium in your body you will simultaneously decrease your water weight. Do this by consuming fewer foods and beverages with high amounts of sodium; this means less soda and less processed food. Also, drink a large amount of water to help flush out the sodium currently in your body.

If you drink more water on a regular basis than your body will naturally store less water; it will not feel the need to store water because it expects additional water to be consumed in short period of time. Although this may seem contrary to the idea of decreasing water weight, increase your intake of water.

Diuretics cause you body to flush out water. There are both prescription diuretics and natural diuretics. Prescription diuretics will likely cause severe side effects such as diarrhea. If you are not prepared to handle intense prescription diuretics then choose natural diuretics such as citrus fruits. Be careful when consuming diuretics so as not to cause dehydration.

Fibre helps regulate the amount of water in the intestines as well as provides many other benefits. Most North Americans do not consume enough fibre in their diets. By increasing your fibre intake you can decrease water-weight in a matter of days. Make sure to drink extra water along with this fibre so as not to cause constipation.
