How to Burn Fat Faster

For most people, a workout at the gym consists in about 45 to 60 minutes of intense cardio activity, like the treadmill or the stationary bike. But this might not be the fastest way to lose weight. Researches have shown that anaerobic activity, for example weight lifting, has a bigger impact on the weight loss than aerobic exercise.

Not only does it impacts your weight loss more, but it can also be done in less time than a cardio workout. By combining a 20 minutes interval workout about three times a week with weight lifting or any weight training will result in you losing weight and getting fit.

There is a simple reason to this. Some call it the plateau effect. As you do your aerobic workouts, your body will eventually get used to them. Therefore, they will not have the same effect, the same impact than it did when you first started. You heart and lungs get used to the effort and do not respond to it as well. But with the interval training and weight lifting, you keep them challenged every time so the body does not have time to adapt to the effort. This results in increasing your fitness level. By doing this intense training, your body temperature augments, resulting in burning calories throughtout the day, even after your workout is done.

Here is what an average interval workout should look like:

-Always warn your muscles up before intervals
-Do not over exercise: choose a level of training that corresponds to your level of fitness.
-Start little by little: the longer your intervals are, the better your results should be.
-During the interval, keep a steady pace but it needs to also be challenging.
-Slowly but surely, increase the repetitions.
-During your rest interval, make sure to bring your heart rate down to 100-110 bpm.
-To augments your fitness level, increase the duration or the intensity, but not both at the same time.
-Be sure to make changes one at the time, over a reasonable period of time.
