Lose Weight with a Water Fast

How to do a water fast

A water fast is a great way to lose weight and and detoxify your body.  It's been done over thousands of years all over the world as a way to speed up healing and focus the mind and the soul.

Step 1: It's best to consult a physician before performing a water fast.  Although every individual regardless of age can perform one, children, pregnant women and elderly need to take care upon performing a water fast.  

Step 2: For three to seven days before your water fast begins slowly decrease the amount of food you are eating.  Eat vegetables and fruit as your main source of food and avoid anything heavy, processed, or unnatural. 

Step 3: At least 24 hours before your fast, only drink pure juice.  If you have a blender or a juicer you can make your own juice.  Otherwise, read the label and avoid anything with sugar.

Step 4: Gradually increase the amount of water you drink. It's best to get in the habit of drinking water whenever you have spare time.  If you are hungry or just bored drink water.

Step 5: Stop all food and juice consumption  at 12 noon or 6 at night.  12 is better for when you end your fast, but 6 at night helps you body make the transition more easily.  But this is based on your own individual choice.

Step 6:Drink at least a gallon of water a day.  More if necessary.

Step 7: Decrease your activity level to a comfortable pace.  Don't stay in bed, but maintain engaging in yoga, light stretching, and walking will help your body detoxify and will increase weight loss fast.

Step 8: When you have decided to end a fast, it's best to go back to juice fasting (drinking only pure juice) for one to three days.

Step 9: Start slowly eating fruit and vegetables then return to normal food, when you feel your body is ready. Avoid processed food, sugars, and anything heavy for as long as possible.

Step 10: If you have finished a long fast, weight some time before repeating.
