How To Lose Weight the Right Way
The one thing that people can relate to when trying to lose weight is that one time or another, we've tried it. Whether we are successful or continue to search for that "magical diet", most of us have been there and done that. Is it hard? Of course it is. If it was easy, then everyone would be at our ideal weights, have rock hard abs and a firm backside. But that can't happen to me. I've tried everything.........or have you?
The proper way to lose weight, in essence, is about discipline and diet. 70% - 80% of losing weight is your diet, not spending endless hours at the gym. Not gorging yourself for seconds and thirds at dinner and topping it off with dessert that would clog the arteries of others just looking at it. The 3 things that you want to keep in mind that are extrememly crucial to the success of a well balanced diet are:
1) Always eat breakfast. Have you heard that the most important meal is the one you have in the morning? It is very true. You have to jump start your metabolism so it can start the day on the right track. If you wait until the early of mid afternoon to eat your first meal, your metabolism is already slow and it will take a longer time for the food to break down, thus storing the unused energy as fat.
2) Drink plenty of water. Water is the magic elixir to our soul and most importantly, has zero calories. It's refreshing and it also helps clean out the liver of toxins and free radicals our body develops daily. If you are hungry at odd times of the day like before you go to bed, try drinking a glass of water. Sometimes the growling of your stomach is a false sense that your body is dehydrated. If you're stomach is still asking for a snack, try eating something light like a banana or an apple, depending on the time of the day.
3) Stop eating at least 3 hours before you go to bed. This may be the hardest thing for some people due to our busy schedules but maybe one of the most important aspects. Eating an hour before you go to bed doesn't allow the body to breakdown the food properly, so when you go to sleep, your metabolism slows down and stores the unused energy as fat. Do you feel lathargic the next morning after you had a big meal before you went to bed? That's why.
