Five Fun Fall Ways to Lose Weight

With cooler weather outside, a whole new world of outside activities opens up to you. Just so long as you bring a jacket (and hat, scarf and gloves if it gets really chilly), you can stay out for hours without worrying about getting to sweaty, dehydrated, or sun burnt.
Here are some ideas to help you lose weight in the cool weather:
1. Rake leaves. If you have trees in your backyard, then you're probably noticing now that there are fewer and fewer leaves on the trees and more and more on the grass below. Burn some calories by getting out your trusty rake and clearing the yard of leaves. The bigger your yard, the more calories you'll burn! Have a front yard too? Even more exercise! Don't look at raking as an annoying chore—put on some music, invite a friend, and have fun!
2. Go apple or pumpkin picking. Reaching up for apples or down to the ground for heavy pumpkins can be excellent exercise. Plus, at the end of the day you'll have baskets full of fresh produce—go home and make an apple pie and some pumpkin soup!
3. Go for a hike. The fall season is truly one of the best times to go for a hike in the mountains. With the crunch of the leaves beneath your feet and the cool weather, many people feel like they can hike for hours in the fall, whereas just a few minutes in the summer sun would wear them out.
4. Go for a long bike ride or go horseback riding. Enjoy the fall foliage on wheels or on horseback.
5. Start ski season early. In some parts of the world, ski season has already begun. Skiing is one of the best ways to burn calories and get a full body workout—so bundle up and go hit the slopes!
