The Best Way to Lose Weight
The best way to lose weight is to give your body slow changes with regards to food intake and physical exercise. Eating food that has poor nutritional content and crash diets that severely restrict your calorie intake are not the best way to lose weight.
Your body stores any excess energy as fat so your aim is to increase your levels of activity and gradually reduce the amount of calories you eat. This is the key point as small changes really do make a difference. Simple things like changing your milk from full-fat milk to semi-skimmed milk will make a difference over time. By gradually changing your eating habits and making your weight loss goals more long term than short term, weight loss will be achieved.
If you are currently overweight, then definitely you need to change your eating habits. First have your body use up existing fat stores by making healthier choices and eating less. Removing sweets and cakes from your daily eating routine will go a long way to help with this. Remember that crash/quick-fix diets only lead to a yo-yo effect of drastic weight loss followed by a rapid weight gain. You need to be aiming for between 300 to 500 calories less per day in order to lose one to two pounds per week. By sticking to the achievable target you can lose up to three stone a year.
Here are some suggested ways to lose those pounds without having to radically change your normal diet:
Have a smaller lunch. For example make your own sandwich with no mayonnaise and very little butter or margarine.
Aim for a larger, healthier breakfast if you are going to cut back on lunch.
Drink fruit cordials and water rather than those sugary sodas.
Slowly wean off having sugar in your coffee.
Restrict yourself to just one helping at dinner and have smaller portions that you normally have.
Those snacks in-between, meals really do need to be cut out of your diet.
Don't be discouraged if for the first couple of weeks you do not see any noticeable changes. By the end of the first month you should notice your clothes are becoming looser fitting. Your mind set is extremely important - keep to your new routine. If you start slipping with your eating habits, then ‘punish' yourself by doing an extra half an hour exercise for each day you ate more than you should have. Exercise routines could be doing simple exercises during TV commercial breaks or walking to the shops rather than driving down the road.
I hope these tips will help you get into that all important eating and exercise routine. Before you know it, months would have gone by and your weight will settle in a healthy range. For further advice and help, visit The Best Way to Lose Weight.
