Lose Weight Fast
You're probably are like most people and do not have the genetic make up to be thin. In fact, you probably are getting information about weight loss and healthy living because of the fact that you or someone in your family has Diabetes.
The story that prompted this article, was a friend of mine, who was like most people when planning a vacation which may lead to her being in a swimsuit at some point in time, and she wanted to look her best. She had just lost 10 pounds in less than two weeks the first time I spoke with her and (of course) I asked what she'd been doing. She started telling me that she was on this diet that was only 500 calories a day. What? I was shocked!!
You are probably being very judgmental right now and thinking she was nuts and that I should refer her to a help line. But I didn't, and a few days later she was down 14 pounds total, and looked healthier and happier than ever. Like most people would, once I got over my shock, I was very curious about how she was able to lose weight that fast. She started telling me that she'd talk to her brother-in-law (because he was a doctor) about a new product called HCG.
What is HCG?
Most places that sell this product will not tell you the whole story of what the product is until you buy it, and then they send you a 46 page PFD on the history. In a nutshell, it is a homeopathic product that gives you a low dose of the HCG hormone. This hormone is naturally release during pregnancy to feed the growing fetus from your fat reserves if a mother does not eat the extra 300 calories a day that she needs to maintain her weight and grow the baby. This is why an obese woman that is pregnant sometimes will not gain weight, because this hormone is telling the body to use the fat cells. In fact, a thin pregnant women's body will take all the visceral fat (belly fat) in her to support the fetus if she will not eat. The most interesting thing about this hormone is that it does not affect the subcutaneous fat (this is the fat under the skin that makes you look healthy). Visceral is the bad fat that is linked to diabetes, bad cholesterol, hypertension, stroke and heart disease. Also, such a low dose is needed to be effective, men needn't worry about any feminine side effects.
The Menu
Below was the exact menu I used for the 14 days I was on the diet (I planned 6, then repeated). I will admit I added an apple or orange on several occasions when I felt weak, which I would suggest to anyone. Never let any diet make you feel less than your best. This diet gives you the first two days of free eating to plan (use a scale) for the rest.

Who can lose weight this fast?
Because of the above explanation, if your BMI is 20 or less, you will not lose weight with HCG. But most of us (95% of the US population) do not have to worry about having a BMI of 21 or above. If you only have a few pounds to lose the effects will wear off after you've reach a BMI of 20, and you will be very hungry if you try to use this hormone at that weight. The more you have to lose, the more you will lose. And yes you will lose 1-2 pounds a day.
How long can I manage this type of diet?
This diet should be done no less than 14 days (if you have 15 pounds or less to lose) and no more than 40 days (40 or more to lose). But can be repeated in a month or so if you have more to lose. The reason for this time line is so that your body has enough time to release the bad toxins that are stored in your fat (14 days) and after 40 days your body will figure out that you are not pregnant and will just absorb this product and not process it like a naturally occurring hormone. If you have more than 40 pounds to lose, it is recommend that you wait at least a month and then repeat the process. If you have more than 80 pounds to lose you can repeat again and again, but each time you need to double the time between starting.
Please do your own research, but you will discover that this diet consisted of all of the healthiest, high fiber, low GI, and lean foods available. These will kept you felling full as well as full of vitamins and great nutrition. Because if you are going to restrict your calories this much, make sure the calories you eat are the best you can give your body.
If you are truly happy at the weight you are you should enjoy it and know that you are blessed to be in that minority. But if not, I hope this has given you some information to reflect on, and an alternative to weekly meetings or online programs.
