Lose weight with watermelon

Yes, you read it right. I lost weight by eating only watermelon for 1 week. No funny concoctions, diet pills, or expensive grocery trips. Only watermelon and water. I researched the internet for different fasts and tried quite a few but they were always so hard to follow, or tasted so horrible they made me want to vomit. I knew there had to be a way to lose weight fast without doubling over from hunger pangs, the only problem was I needed to figure this out before my trip to Florida which was in 1 month. I tried eating only apples, or only veggies, but they didn't satisfy the hunger that I was feeling. One night my husband came home from grocery shopping and had a watermelon. As soon as I saw it a little light bulb in my head came on. I knew that there were many times I had eaten watermelon in the past and got so full I felt like I was going to burst. Why not just eat watermelon for 1 week, just to see if it works. That night I made a commitment to lose weight.

The next morning I woke up and drank a cup of coffee ( there was no way I was going to give up coffee for a week). Then I cut up the watermelon so if I got hungry I would be able to just walk to the fridge and get it. All day long whenever I felt hungry I ate to my hearts content. I filled a 32 oz. cup with water and drank it with a straw. Using a straw made a huge difference in how much water I drank, I don't know why but I just kept the cup with me all day long and drank whenever I felt thirsty. I was able to drink a gallon of water that first day without having to force myself. It went very easy all day long, until my husband came home with a pizza. I told myself "NO WAY, DON'T EAT THE PIZZA!." I'm sure you guessed it, I ate two pieces of that pizza. I was so mad that I ate it, but I didn't beat myself too much.

I followed the same routine for 6 more days ( without the pizza of course). Whenever I felt hungry I ate my watermelon and I drank my water with a straw. I also walked about half of a mile almost every day. I tried to walk further which was pretty hard trying to push two children in a double stroller in the Texas heat. I forced myself to stay away from the scale until the morning of the 8th day.

"Here we go," I thought. I stepped on my scale and screamed! I lost 8 pounds in 7 days. Even though I drank my coffee every morning and ate pizza that first night I still lost 8 pounds. I couldn't believe how easy it was for me. The trick now was to keep it off.

I knew that there are a lot people who do a fast and lose a bunch of weight, but when they start eating again the weight comes back. I just kept up walking half of a mile a day and changed a lot of my previous eating habits. I now keep watermelon in my fridge so when I want to pig out on something sweet I know I can eat the watermelon. I also started eating off of one of my daughters plates rather than my own because they are about 2 inches smaller all the way around, this way I can't fit as much food on my plate. I still eat lasagna, and fast food. I just don't eat as much of it or as often as I used to. I have lost 3 more pounds without having to push myself.

Now you see how easy it is to lose weight by eating watermelon. One other thing I did was made sure to take my daily vitamin. I am a stay-at-home mom who also is going to college, if I can do it so can you.
