In the recovery phase, the lungs and heart work together to break down the lactic acid and to compensate for this oxygen debt. The aerobic system then takes control and uses oxygen in order to convert the stored carbohydrates into a usable energy, which in turn leads to weight loss.
This type of training, the body compensates by building new capillaries, making the body more capable of taking in and delivering oxygen to the working muscles. The muscles develop tolerance to lactates and the muscle in the heart is strengthened. These changes can enhance the performance of the body especially within the cardiovascular system.

* Just like any other exercises, it is necessary to warm up before starting on the training.
* Start slowly; say for instance, you will just take a walk for 2 minutes or run for 2 minutes, bear in mind that longer intervals can provide better results.
* Throughout the interval, keep a steady yet challenging pace.
* During the rest interval, keep your heart rate down and within the limits of 100-110 beats per minute.
* When planning to increase the duration or intensity of the exercise, don't plan to do both at the same time.
* Changes should be made slowly over a period of time.
* To ensure even efforts, train on a flat and smooth surface.
* Circuit training can also be used as a form of interval training.
