Summary of the Year’s Top Celebrity Diets
Celebrities have become famous for more than their appearances on screen, their designer clothing, and signature brands. Celebrity diets inspire and motivate many of us interested in losing weight, but it's hard to tell if each celebrity is actually following a diet plan, or just endorsing an idea for their own gain. Regardless, the media insists that the nutritionists, fitness experts, and other health gurus that work on diet plans and weight management for celebrities know a thing or two. If you're considering getting started on a new plan this year, here's a summary of the year's top celebrity diets:
Atkins Diet
The Atkins diet craze is far from over. After years of encouraging a high protein-and somewhat dangerously high fat-diet, Atkins fans continue to support the idea of eliminating carbs as much as possible. The Atkins diet encourages dieters to remove all sources of carbohydrate from their diet in the first two weeks, and then slowly transition healthy carbohydrates back into the weekly diet. Atkins diet followers can eat a range of red meats and protein throughout the day, including eggs, bacon, and steak. Carb cutting has become a popular way to lose weight quickly, and celebrities including Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez have reported positive results.
Bob Greene's Get With the Program Diet Plan
Oprah has long been a fan of Bob Greene, and even co-authored a book to motivate others to lose weight. While Oprah continues to work on her fitness and health, the Bob Greene diet plan is the basis for her regime. The diet encourages lean protein, healthy carbohydrates, and moderate amounts of fat. Bob Greene's diet also works on timing and spacing meals throughout the day, and maintaining a healthy exercise schedule whenever possible.
The 5 Factor Diet
This diet focuses on rotating five different meals throughout the day and using only five ingredients in each dish. The meal plan in the 5 Factor Diet is designed for long-term weight loss, and encourages food that is high in healthy proteins, fat, complex carbohydrates, and fiber. Sugar-free drinks are allowed on the diet, and Jessica Simpson is reportedly one ardent follower.
Master Cleanse Diet
Detox diets and juice fasts have become a standard diet in Hollywood, and the Master Cleanse is the latest of the fad diet lineup. In the past, extreme plans such as the Grapefruit Diet and Cabbage Soup Diet have been promoted for a total detox and cleanse. The Master Cleanse has reportedly been used by Beyonce to drop a few fast pounds.
South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet has become a popular ‘brand name' diet, promoting a range of frozen food and snack products at the supermarket, along with a step-by-step eating plan in cookbooks and healthy eating guides. The South Beach Diet encourages fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood, and other lean protein. The move away from processed food and fats is highlighted throughout the plan, and Bill Clinton has reportedly lost over 30 pounds following the South Beach Diet plan.
Whole and Organic Food Diets
The organic food movement has inspired celebrities including Madonna and Alicia Silverstone to go green. Whole food diets encourage unprocessed food as the basis of the plan, and eliminating all animal products is the next step for many natural and organic food lovers. Whole food diets include raw food and drinks throughout the day; vitamin-infused smoothies, tofu, and soy-based products are just a few options that may lead to weight loss.
