Why Lose Weight
Why lose weight? The major benefit to losing weight is to be healthy. The baseline of this article is on wives that have outdistanced their husbands in the weight gain department. Gaining weight is almost guaranteed after having children because of the propensity to actually eat for two. But after the child is born, there should be a concerted effort to get back to the pre-pregnancy weight loss. That statement is easier said than done because stresses and the enjoyable tastes of foods along with social events laded with food gets in the way of staying at a healthy weight.
Gender plays a role in the weight gain because women bodies have mostly fat as men have basically muscle. Many have seen the commercial of SlimQuick, the weight loss drink that compares the weight loss of a woman and a man. No explanation is given for the fact that men lose weight quickly but the man drops several sizes and the woman may not drop as many sizes because of the differences in the general makeup of their bodies. What is a woman to do to even the playing field.
The difficulty of women losing weight is the cause of the myriad of weight loss corporations that are profiting from women lack of control when attempting to lose weight. The benefits of losing weight must be a personal one because of the individual need to get the determination that is required. There is no such thing as will power and no woman lives in a vacuum so if there is difficulty getting started on losing weight partnering with a family friend or family member should be the go-to solution.
The long term benefits of weight loss is a healthy lifestyle. The dynamics of women losing weight compared to the weight loss success of man may be unfair but if the facts are that women have more fat then women have to work harder to lose it. The mindset to lose the weight is the most important impetus that a woman can get to realize weight loss benefits. Do not lose weight for a man, do not lose weight for a dress size, do not lose weight for the children, lose weight for you. Losing weight is one of the times that a woman must put everything aside and examine the benefits of weight loss for herself.
The following is a response to a mother of three who was not happy with being advised to lose weight and failed to see the benefit. It seemed that her excuse and it was an excuse was that she had three children.
mom of 3, thank you for your comment. Most marriages survive because of tolerance given the 48% that survive out of 100%. Women bodies are made differently from men and I personally do not think that having children is a reason to get out of shape but an excuse. I love children but I understand that a relationship must remain between the husband and wife for the happiness of the family. I see too many overweight housewives except for the Desperate Housewives on tv of course who used the children as an excuse to be overweight. Once a child is born the added weight should be lost to be able to enjoy the children better. I know that it is hard to restrain from a treat but knowing where the treat will go should be a red flag. A man does not lose his visual acuity with time and more often than not may not be desirable of an overweight woman if that is not the person he married. Men can be very forgiving but also can lie very well and have someone on the side regardless of how good a mother or wife you are. All of this talk may sound superficial with values and ethics that are gained through knowing someone in a relationship but isn't making yourself feel better and being healthy for the children worth it?
Marie Osmond has had eight children and was able to lose the weight even though she did use the a weight loss program. Marie Osmond is a celebrity with the money to lose weight but her body works the same as every other woman. Diet and exercise works but the person losing the weight must be determined and committed to reach the weight loss goal. The best way to reach the weight loss goal is to constantly think of the benefits of weight loss.
