Weight Loss Diets
Do you know that by following a certain type of diet, one can achieve weight loss safely and permanently? That diet is known as low-carbobydrates diet or simply low-carb diet, that is a diet that contains limited amount of carbohydrates. By limiting the amount of carbohydrates intake, one can obtain an edge in quick weight loss. Usually, in a low-carb diet, protein is used as the substitute for carbohydrates although sometimes fats can be substitute as well.
But how does a low-carb diet works? How does it actually helps? When we consume foods that contain carbohydrates, our body actually convert these carbohydrates into sugars and absorbed into our blood stream. Foods that are high in carbohydrates include french fries, baked potatoes, bread, wheat, waffles, rice and so on. In addition, sugary foods and sweet stuffs are considered as well since carbohydrates are converted by an enzyme into sugars - the end product, by our body.
Low-Carb Diet For Weight Loss
Studies have found that by restricting carbohydrates intake, there will be less sugars entering into the blood stream. As high level of blood sugar raises the level of insulin production, which in turn feeds these blood sugar into our body cells, a cell packed with blood sugars will not need to breaking down body fats for energy anymore, hence totally preventing weight loss. In fact, it has long been known that people who always consume sugary foods will gain weight. Because protein are usually consumed as the main substitute for carbohydrates causing a drop in blood sugars and insulin level, therefore cells start breaking down fats for energy. There are many people who claim to lose weight after following low-carb diets for a period of time but there are also some people who suggest that the weight loss achieved has nothing to do with blood sugar or insulin levels. Either way, the main objective of losing weight is also achieved.
Also, low-carb diets can further help us lose weight by decreasing the appetite for food as we, being on low-carb diet consumes more protein and fats. These takes longer for our system to digest compared to carbohydrates and hence resulting in not just a more satisfying meal but also making us feeling full longer.
