Tips From a Napa Personal Trainer
I've seen so many worried clients in my day as a Napa personal trainer who are practically dying to lose weight in a particular amount of time for a birthday, a wedding or some other event. To be honest, a lot of the times this is unrealistic and can be down right dangerous. You can't look me in the eye and honestly tell me that you can lose 10 or 15 pounds in a weekend. But you can do some great things that can practically guarantee quicker fat loss.
Use High Intensity Interval Training - Getting out of the "fat burning zone" is one of the biggest suggestions I'll give to new clients who have been brainwashed to stay on a treadmill for hours at a time. You can get a lot done in about 20 minutes of working really hard. To lose the maximum amount of fat on a treadmill, as a Napa Personal Trainer, I recommend sprinting for a minute and then going back down to a jogging pace for a minute and then keep repeating. Using intervals can drastically increase your metabolism and therefore burn more calories throughout the day. Just be sure you have plenty of water around to ensure you don't get dehydrated because you'll be sweating up a storm.
Don't Eat Bad Fats & Sugar - When I'm talking about bad fats I'm talking saturated or trans fats. These guys will wreak havoc on your body and will do nothing but keep the weight on if not gain fat. Everyone trying to lose weight should also think about not consuming refined sugars because of their ability to totally mess up ones blood sugar levels. We all know the feeling of crashing, to lose weight you'll want to have steady blood sugar levels.
Start Lifting Weights - Metabolic resistance training is a highly effective means of causing a metabolic disturbance in your body which will burn fat at a much higher level than a normal or slow metabolism. Also muscle gain has been proven to actually burn fat just by being there. This doesn't mean you'll look like Arnold Schwarzenegger any time soon, but unless you want to be skinny fat then it'll be a good idea to start a good weight training program.
Have Patience - The more you worry and stress out about all the fat that you need to drop then I can guarantee you'll take much longer to lose that fat. Having stress and constantly worrying about things can release powerful hormones throughout our bodies such as cortisol which can pack on the fat and kill muscle. So stop worrying so much and take a chill pill. A few tips for patience is to plan for the long term and just enjoy your life.
Eat Small Meals Throughout the Day - We've been brought up eating three square meals a day. But this is actually one of the last things we want to do when it comes to dropping weight. In actuality we want to have six or so smaller meals spread evenly throughout the day. This will help keep steady blood sugar levels and will also stave off hunger. Our metabolisms will constantly be going when eating like this. Just make sure you don't eat giant meals and always have a bigger breakfast and taper off your meals during the day.
Now these are great tips for losing weight quickly but please take into consideration that permanent weight loss means changing your lifestyle. Going on crazy diets and exercise regimens are going to leave you right back where you started. Consciously making lifestyle changes by consistently working out, having great nutrition and de-stressing your life will leave you with a great body for the rest of your life. At first this notion can sound almost impossible, but take it one step at a time and soon enough you'll find yourself living a newer and healthy fat loss lifestyle.

Motivational Weight Loss Tips from a Napa Personal Trainer
Being a Napa Personal Trainer, there is more to weight loss than just diet and exercising. In fact, without staying motivated it is going to be almost impossible to get the results you so desire. You can buy all the fancy fitness toys and gadgets and have the greatest work out program but if you're not inspired and motivated to accomplish your goals then you're going to be in a heap of trouble.
It's not easy for me to see people go back to their old ways as they start working out less and eating junk food more. I take partial responsibility for this too because we should both be working together to keep each other motivated so we can both reach our goals. Here are a few of my favorite tips I've learned as a Napa personal trainer that I would like to give out to my clients, new and old, to help keep them motivated and the pounds off.
Record Your Statistics - Knowing where you are now is vital to your short term and long term success because it gives you a marker as to where you stand right now and lets you know where you want to be. It can be difficult doing it for the first time because you might be afraid of what will come but trust me, it will encourage you to work harder and soon you'll look back at it as your trophy. I would record the major statistics such as weight, girth measurements and body fat percentage.
Work Out with a Friend - Having a buddy or friend to work out with is great because you'll be there to motivate each other through the thick and thin of the training program. It also gives you healthy competition since you'll always want to keep up with your training partner. Working out by yourself can get boring fast and it becomes super easy to cheat when there's no one there to keep you accountable. If you don't have a work out buddy try finding some group classes and get to know other people in there and eventually see if they would like to work out with you outside the class.
Write It Down In A Journal - Recording your statistics is great but you'll also want to record the rest of your weight loss journey. Go down to the local store and get a journal to write in. Record your work outs and how you felt that day as well as your nutrition. Having to write down what you eat will help you steer way from the junk food if you know you're going to have to write it down later. This will help motivate you as you can look back over the course of your journey and see how far you've come.
Relax and Get Some "You" Time - Losing weight doesn't have to be crazy serious all the time. In fact, losing weight should be fun at times. I usually always look forward to working out because I love how I feel when I get the endorphins flowing throughout my body and all the great times I've had with my work out partners. Stop pressuring yourself to lose weight so fast and just enjoy life. Get outside the gym and go take your dog for a walk around the park and go for a long bike ride instead of hanging on the elliptical at the gym on a nice day.

Foods To Throw Away from a Napa Personal Trainer
As a Napa personal trainer I am constantly surprised to see how many people are stuffing their faces with unhealthy meals and snacks. I'm not saying you have to be perfect and there's room for eating what you want every now and then, but people are consistently going overboard when it comes to eating. They are doing this and aren't even aware that what they're eating is killing their diet.
Even though mainstream media and most people think these things are healthy, my experience as a Napa personal trainer has taught me otherwise.
Smoothies - It's widely accepted as healthy to go to the local Jambo Juice and get a smoothie for a fruitful snack. Actually these things are full of sugars to sweeten it up and will pack on the calories as well as screwing with your blood sugar levels. Stay away from the fruit juices and the smoothies to save yourself the calories and the sugar crashes.
Pasta - They found pasta as one of the cheapest ways to feed a family and for good reason. Having little nutrients, white pasta is a dangerous addition to any healthy families diet. Instead try going for the whole wheat pasta which has some more nutrients and won't spike your blood sugar levels. Also stay away from the heavy creams and sauces that we all love to pour on top of our pasta.
Salads - What? Every body knows salads are one of the healthiest meals to eat...right? Well it really depends on what salad you're eating. If you're eating the bleu cheese dressing, iceberg lettuce, croutons and bacon bits salad then you might as well be eating a double cheeseburger. Instead start going for dark green and colorful vegetables to put into your salad. A healthy salad and an unhealthy salad are both really easy to cross but one will help your health and the other will destroy it.
