Foods that speed up the metabolism

Metabolism is the energy or calories we burn to maintain good health. The body burns calories constantly whether we are eating, drinking, sleeping or cleaning. Metabolism is an important function that enables the body to use the food and other resources to keep the working parts healthy, to repair damage and heal injury. It also helps the body to get rid of toxins. In short, metabolism is a process which is necessary for the body to keep working properly. Without a good metabolism the living organism would die.

Metabolism helps in digestion and absorption of nutrients. Nutrition, physical activities and hydration affects metabolism the most. When either of them are lacking, the metabolic rate decreases. Weight loss, gain and weight maintenance are related to a healthy metabolism. As we know that intake of fatty foods and calories may be beneficial for weight loss, but they decrease the metabolism too. Therefore it is important to stimulate the metabolism by carrying out physical activities. Skipping meals is a bad idea or reducing calories by extreme extent is also bad. These may result in the body to store excess fat in the reserve.
