Eat more, lose weight?

It is a common myth that eating less is the only way to lose weight. It is obvious that the body will use it's stores if enough calories aren't being eaten, however this may not provide longer term benefits. One theory is that by increasing the body metabolic rate by eating every two to three hours, this helps speed up the calorie burning process at rest. So instead of having three big meals or just lunch and an evening meal, try eating little and often. Breakfast is a good way to start the bodies metabolic fires burning and helps to balance out blood sugar levels from a nights sleep.

Effective Exercise

Unless you are a body builder and your main aim is to lose weight, single joint exercises such as bicep curls are maybe not the way forward. By using multi joint exercises such as squats the body uses more calories and also becomes stronger as a result. This can be know as functional training as the body normally moves in these ways rather than single joint. The longer term metabolic impact as well is worth noting as the bigger muscles are working hence the body burns more calories sustaining larger muscles.
