Building Your Network Marketing Downline.
People will often ask me "I am having trouble building a downline with my business, what can I do?" Now to me that’s like asking what’s the best way to lose weight. There is no right or wrong answer but this is how I approach the subject.
Most people who start an MLM type home business will fail, in fact it’s around 97% of people. This can be for a number of reasons, they didn’t have a WHY, or they just gave up, maybe they have been so busy shouting out to the world about there great opportunity. Whatever the reason that’s the cold hard facts of the matter.
For my first few years in this industry I nearly quit more than once because I simply could not build my downline. I could not get people interested in my opportunity until I read Magnetic Sponsoring and the penny dropped. You see I spent years promoting my company when in fact I should have been promoting myself.
It doesn’t matter how great my business plan is, how wonderful my products are or that my MLM company is cash rich and debt free because that doesn’t solve a prospects problems. What they want to know is who I am and can I help them solve a problem.
If I position myself as someone who can solve problems then I become of value to anyone who needs help. I become a leader in their eyes and they will want to do business with me. So how can you use this if you are new or are struggling to build a downline.
The first thing you need to do is stop promoting your company. Nobody will work with a company but they will work with you. A human being who they can relate to. What value can you add to someone’s life. Ok here we go, let’s start thinking outside the box.
If your company is in the health and nutrition industry and you are into health and fitness. You go to the gym ever day and life a healthy lifestyle. You’ve done this even before you joined the company. It’s one of the things that attracted you in the first place.
So how can this attract people into your business? Well quite easily as it happens. Well not easy but it can be very successful. Since you have been doing keep fit and living a healthy life why not do a series of keep fit video’s and put them on Youtube. You will start to get a following, a fan base if you like who will see that you are someone that can help them get fit.
They will start asking question about your lifestyle, what you eat and what health foods and supplements you could recommend. Well now that’s easy because you are a distributor for a company that sell health and nutrition products. And because they now trust you because you have built up a rapport with them, they will be more will to buy from you and do business with you.
You are not like all the others out there because now you are not a sells person but a problem solver. Nobody likes to be sold to do they? Now you stand out from the crowd as an expert and someone that can be trusted. You have not bombard people with your products, remember they asked you about them. This is a very powerful weapon to have and you should use it.
You see as the great Perry Marshall said, "Nobody who bought a drill wanted a drill, they wanted a hole. So if you want to sell drills, advertise information about making holes – not information about drills". Nobody wants your product they want to get fit. Your product is just another problem for them. Do I buy it, Don’t I buy it, how good will it be.
All you are doing with a video series is showing people how to keep fit and healthy. It just so happens that you also use a great product that they can also use. Because you are no longer a sell person but an expert anyone who watches the videos will sell the product to themselves.
You don’t have to stop at videos, you can write articles or press releases. Remember as well that all of this is FREE! You never have to pay to put anything on Youtube or post an article.
All your competitors will be trying every trick in the book to sell products. They will be working hard where as you will be working smart. Videos and articles stay on the net forever. You do the work once and get sells, leads and business partners for years to come.
I only used this as an example, you could use anything to generate leads. If you know how to build a downline through article writing make up a course, if your good at talking to people on the phone do a course. Whatever your talent, someone, somewhere will need your help, just apply it.
I gave up advertising my business opportunity a long time ago because I simply did not get the people I was looking for. I was wasting my time trying to solve people problems when in fact all I was doing was offering them another problem.
If you can help people solve their problems, be it making money, generating leads or keeping fit you will never have to worry about money ever again.
