Why Do Most Diets Fail
You have seen dozens, if not hundreds or even thousands of products promising that the quickest way to lose weight is to buy them and follow what they say. You can lose weight quickly just by buying a book, eating nothing but cabbage, or by doing a thousand crunches a day, and it won't take any effort at all beyond that. Sadly, all too many of us every year fall victim to these bogus weight loss claims, and the United States alone spends billions of dollars each year on useless weight loss gimmicks that promise us miracles and deliver only disappointment. Why exactly is this?
Weight loss requires sustained effort, not just a brief spurt. Whenever people want to lose weight quickly, they jump into the most restricted diets and exercise like crazy. There is nothing wrong with being enthusiastic about living a healthy lifestyle, but there are problems with this sort of extreme. The first and most painful is that many people who jump into these sort of diet and exercise routines are out of shape, which frequently leads to injuries. Many people also have a great deal of trouble sticking to the diets.
Diets that are too complicated will never be adhered to for very long. Imagine that you have to work all day, do chores around the house, and spend time with your family. Where are you supposed to find the extra time to determine not only how many carbohydrates you are eating, but what kind of carbohydrates because some of them don't count? Most people drop out of extreme diets because they are difficult to stick to and too complicated to remember all the rules. Weight loss tips that work for real people are always very simple.
In order to lose weight successfully, the quickest way to lose weight is to follow a simple plan that you can stick to. Rather than forcing yourself to consume only a very limited amount of fat or carb, or to restrict yourself to one particular kind of food, a more relaxed approach is often the better choice. Eat a mixture of carbs, fats, and proteins for each meal, choose reasonable portion sizes, and stick to whole grain or lean choices whenever possible. That, along with staying away from sugars and processed foods are all that many of us need to do in order to have a healthy enough diet to help us lose weight. The key to losing weight is to make choices that you can live with not just for two weeks, but for the rest of your life.
