Chocolate - how is it healthy?
I have always thought of chocolate as a "guilty pleasure", and I know most people - especially women - crave it and want it for Valentine's Day and anytime they are depressed and want to cheer up by eating something sweet...chocolate has been used for centuries by the Mayans and the Spaniards and many other cultures in many forms.
Have you ever wondered why chocolate makes us feel good? Yes, it is delicious, especially the milk chocolate that we have been raised on that contains large amounts of sugar and other "bad" ingredients. But how about the pure cacao? The real chocolate bean that dark chocolate is made from?
I have been studying chocolate and its chemical makeup and there are a few ingredients in it that really help us elevate our mood and help our bodies - without making us fat - if in the right format of "healthy" chocolate.
Here are some of the ingredients of chocolate -
Theobromine - which "is derived from Theobroma, the name of the genus of the cacao tree, (which itself is made up of the Greek roots theo ("God") and brosi ("food"), meaning "food of the gods" (Wikipedia) - our first indication that it has been valued since its creation. Theobromin is also a phytochemical. It has a similar, but lesser, effect to caffeine. It is a mild stimulant, a mild diuretic and also relaxes the muscles in the lungs, opening up the airways, allowing more oxygen into the lungs. Great for those with respiratory problems.
Flavenols - a 3rd category of vitamins, that are usually found in chocolate and tea. Full of antioxidants, support the immune system, help blood sugar levels and blood pressure as well. Good for diabetics.
Phenylethylamine (PEA) - a chemical related to amphetamines and raises blood pressure and blood glucose levels. The results is that we feel more alert and gives us a sense of well being and contentment. It is believed to work by making the brain release b-endorphin, an opioid peptide which is the driving force behind the pleasurable effects. Phenylethylamine is known as the "love drug" and is thought be be the reason why chocolate is said to be an aphrodisiac. It is a chemical that mimics the brain chemistry of a person in love, so when levels of phenylethylamine are high in the body it relieves depression from unrequited love. This is one of the reasons so many women love chocolate - it really is a mood elevator!
So where can you find a "healthy" chocolate that gives you these great effects, but without all the sugar and other ingredients that are not healthy and make you fat? I recommend going to my site - Tru Chocolate Queen.info - and looking at the ingredients of this healthy chocolate - all organic, all natural, with added nutrients and herbs to help you not only enjoy eating this chocolate, but you will be amazed at how it helps you to level out your blood sugar, feel less hungry when eaten before meals, even help you sleep better when eaten as a snack before bed.
It contains xylitol, a natural sweetener, recommended by dentists as a way to prevent dental caries and gum disease, and also used in products designed for diabetics as a low glycemic sweetener.
There are many testimonies of its weight loss power as well - many people have lost up to a pound a day simply eating a TruChocolate before meals, and when sugar cravings hit in mid afternoon or evening. Listen to the testimonials at 512-404-1282(#1) or see the testimonials on the site. Watch Dr. Wallach talk about the ingredients in the video on the About Us page.
Ask me for a sample, and I will give you one or send one to you. You deserve to lose weight and be healthy, and why not eat a "functional dessert" to help you get there?
