Ways to Lose Weight After the Holidays
Just like anyone in the world who celebrated the holidays, most of us have really gained a lot of weight this Christmas season from all the Christmas feast and New Year feast. Since there were endless buffets, parties, gatherings and reunions, there were of course a wide array of food and booze that you have digested all throughout the season thus lead you to weight gain. If before you can fit into your skinny jeans, now, you probably have to jump up and down your room just to squeeze yourself in to those jeans. I know the feeling because I can also not fit in my brand new jeans anymore and it hasn’t been even a month since I bought it!
Of course, just like any other individual who gained weight over the past holidays, the 2010 resolution would have to be "to diet" or to "weight loss" or "to exercise" or "weight losing" or "getting in shape". You have the goal but what do you have to do to achieve these goals? How to get rid of the gained weight?
1) Healthy Eating
If you have a routine that works for you before the holiday season, you can go back to that old routine. However, if you want to try a new approach this time, you can do so. First, remember to take baby steps. You do not need to rush things. You do not have to torture yourself by losing all the weight you need to in the first week. In fact, try to stay away from the weighing scale for the first week so you won’t feel frustrated. During your first week, try eating less. Do not avoid food. You can still eat but eat things in moderation. You can also eat 5 times a day. Treat yourself with small meals so you do not have to crave for anything. Do not starve yourself. Instead eat everything you want in the first week but do it moderately. On the 2nd or 3rd week when you are already keeping up with the pace, do the 5 small meals still but this time, what you should do is try to choose the healthier options. For instance, try eating oatmeal in the morning instead of white bread. Eat a salad in the evening instead of eating pasta. Apply whatever works for your body and you will surely be on track soon.
2) Exercises
To make it easier, sign up for a gym membership. In this way, you will have a personal trainer who will guide you and this will keep you motivated because you paid for it in advance.
The key to losing weight is combining these two with a little determination and willingness.
