Losing weight can be tricky, or downright difficult to do, especially if you're trying to lose weight quickly. But there is hope, and help, as you begin the journey towards your ideal weight.
Track Calories to Lose Weight Quickly
Starting with the basics, lets talk about calories. Calories are just a unit of measurement for energy used by our bodies. Of course, we all need energy to function. We get energy from everything we eat, drink, and even to some extent, from sunshine. Most importantly to remember, to stay at a healthy, optimal weight, we need to use as much or more energy than we consume each day. This is an important key to fast weight loss.
That's because unused energy is converted to fat by the body, so if we take in more than we use, the result is that we put on weight - and it can happen fast! I am not a big advocate of obsessively counting calories in order to lose weight. However, understanding this basic principal helps to illustrate conceptually how we can successfully lose weight. Bottom line, if we want to lose weight and burn fat, just use more calories each day than you consume (maybe not as easy as it sounds, but it is important to understand.)
Lose Weight Quickly with Exercise
Besides eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of water, the next and equally important factor in preventing calories from becoming fat, is that of exercise, which is incredibly important to our overall health. It is also a highly effective weapon in our arsenel for fighting fat.
In a sense, exercise is about the only way that we can guarantee that we burn more calories than we consume, short of starving ourselves each day, which is also extremely unhealthy and should never be attempted for weight loss or any other reason. Bottom line, in addition to a healthy diet, exercise is the "grand equalizer" of fitness and weight loss. Not to mention, it makes us feel more vibrant and alive the more of it we do.
If you're not used to exercising, start mild and build up gradually. Begin with walking briskly aroud your block once a day, but be consistant. Do it each day, maybe taking a day or 2 off on the weekends. After a while, walking will be a breeze, and you will naturally feel able to kick up the intensity to something more challenging, like jogging, yoga, cardio kickboxing, or any number of other alternatives.
5 Tips for Quick Weight Loss
1- Drink plenty of water
It cleanses toxins, and prevents "false" hunger pains that are actually triggered by dehydration.
2- Substitute sweets with fruits
Natural sugars (in fruits) not only quell the cravings for sweets, they are accompanied by incredible health benefits, not to mention just tasting great.
3- Try eating light once a day to begin with
That is, go with a chicken sandwich instead of hamburger. Better yet, try a salad with salmon instead of heavy complex carbs or heavy meats. At first you may think eating this way is "boring", but once you try it, you will find eating light leaves you with more energy, and often the flavor of food can be even more satisfying with today's innovative healthy menus.
4- Limit or eliminate alcohol
There is a lot of fat (and calories) in alcoholic beverages, and it builds up fast. If you want to cut pounds quickly, ditch the liquor.
