Weight Loss Surgery

Why Weight Loss Surgery Is So Popular

The only way to lose weight fast without strenuous exercise and a strict diet is surgery. The good thing about having weight loss surgery such as liposuction is you go into surgery and come out with a new body. You don't have to exercise for hours a day and starve yourself to control calories.

On the other hand, the downside to having surgery is that like all surgeries, there are risks and complications. There is pain after having the surgery, but pain medication is given to control the pain. Then there is the cost. Insurance does not cover weight loss surgery so you will have to pay for the entire cost yourself. Depending on several factors, surgery can cost as little as a few thousand dollars and up to many thousands of dollars.

People who have battled with weight their whole life, have struggled with dieting, have been unable to keep off weight and stay at their ideal weight, are very unhappy and uncomfortable with their body, and are embarrased to wear clothes that show their body aren't worried about the complications. Some people are so ashamed of their body that they would prefer to die than keep going around with that giant gut they can't do anything with and are reminded of everyday. As long as they have the money, they will have surgery and no warnings will scare them off.

The fact is, that complications such as death and severe injury due to weight loss surgery are rare, but they do happen. Some people are good candidates for surgery and some are not. For example someone with heart disease wouldn't make a good candidate for surgery. If a doctor feels a person is too risky to operate on, they won't do the surgery.

Weight loss surgery has become very popular and will only gain in popularity as so many people are overweight with pounds of flabby fat, big guts, giant thighs, and cellulite that they are desperate to make go away.

International Weight Loss Surgery

Some people travel to other countries to get weight loss surgery that is cheaper. Traveling to another country for surgery has a reputation, but just because a doctor is in another country and charges less than a doctor in America would, doesn't mean the doctor is not skilled or the surgery will be botched.

That's like someone having a terrible meal at a restaurant and saying all restaurant food is bad. No, it depends on the restaurant you go to. Obviously, you won't want to go to someone who claims to be a doctor without checking their crededentials operating on you in some cheap hotel room. In this case, you probably would get a serious infection and you might die.

But there have been hundreds of people from America, the UK, and Canada who travel to countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Latin American countries to get weight loss surgery at half the price and they were very happy with their results.

There are capable, skilled, intelligent, and talented doctors that perform surgeries in other countries in modern hospitals with attentive and caring nurses looking after the patient's every need.

With the cost of airfare however, sometimes it's not cheaper to travel across the globe for surgery.

If you are thinking about traveling to another country for weight loss surgery, obviously, you want to do your research so you can have a pleasant experience and get the body you want safely. You want to ask a lot of questions and talk to as many former patients as you can.

There are even companies that specialize in taking western patients to other countries just for weight loss surgery. The idea is going off to a warm, tropical environment, having surgery with one of the best cosmetic surgeons, at one of the top hopistals, and coming out of surgery safely and happy. After recovery, you come back home with a new body.

Complications from a Tummy Tuck surgery

With more and more people desiring a lean physique but either not having the time or the willpower to go through with traditional means of losing weight and toning muscles are turning to risky and costly surgeries. The most popular of these surgeries is the tummy tuck procedure or Abdominoplasty. Besides the obvious cost disadvantages, tummy tucks also have several complications that people should watch out for.
First, is the issue of anesthesia reactions. Lots of people have a medical aversion to anesthetics and these need to be checked before the procedure can be started. In relation to the anesthetics, if they are used for more than 30 minutes, there is a tendency for internal blood clotting, which could form inside a blood vessel and interfere with circulation. Another issue to consider is Infections, which means an individual should choose surgeons carefully, and only consider someone that he or she is sure will take every precaution in order to prevent infection. The last issue with tummy tuck surgeries is that it requires the patient to have a normal healing process. While the healing rates of normal people are fine, there are specific cases where patients’ incisions tend to heal at an extremely slow rate. This is most common among older or less physically fit individuals but cases among young, physically active people are also documented from time to time. While this complication is not fatal, the severe discomfort and the prominent scarring may be unacceptable, and sometimes patients who experience this need costly surgical revision in order to correct the ugly results of scarring and slow healing.
