Remember all of those great exercise systems that came out over the years and each one was suppose to dramatically change a person's body?
Remember, we were going Tae Bo ourselves into shape.
What about the AB-Glide?
The gadget where you had to get down on your knees and wheel yourself into perfect abs. So much pain and agony, but not from having sore abs but from your knees pressing into the floor!
What about the Red XL Exerciser? And tons more like these.
They all look easy....a quick and simple way to lose weight and get into shape right? And because it seems easy we think to ourselves..."This is the workout for me!"
So we go out and purchase the exercise video or gadget that GUARANTEES pounds or inches will be lost in just days or weeks.
We get the product home, still very much excited, we use it and then, we see little to no results at all! So what the heck happened? Was it a scam?
To tell you the truth about these gadgets and products that are selling like crazy... Most of the videos and gadgets really do work. I hate to admit but they do.
Some of them do. Of course there are the ones that are obviously ridiculous (won't name any names) such as those that are suppose to "shake" you into shape and the ones that supposedly require no work at all on your part, just strap it on and voila you're fit! (We have to know that-Exercise requires Effort.)
But we want things quick and easy, and that's one of the reasons why we are so attracted to these gadgets because the advertisement made us think that the product will actually give up the results we want quickly. The job of the cooperation is to sell the "idea" of a "better body fast and now." Next time you see an infomercial or advertisement for weight loss, pay close attention to the wording. The phrase's are what capture our attention because we do want that better body as fast as we can get it. Words and phrases such as "results in just days" bait us in. You and I take the phrase "in just days" to mean, in just a few days, when it actually means what it says…Days. In just Days could mean 6 or 6,ooo days, so, you see they didn’t lie.
What about this part… "Lose weight Fast!" Is this true?
Technically, yes, to some extent…again tricky wording.
For those who are use to working out, and have stopped then started again, Yes they can lose weight fast.
For those who don’t have much weight to lose, Yes they can lose the weight fast.
For someone with a fast metabolism, Yes.
But for someone who is in to lose a number of pounds...new to working out, or someone who has a slow metabolism...Um let me put it like this way, anything is possible, but it may not be as fast as expected.
We live in a time where we want things done now and fast. Instant gratification. But the truth is, if we want it done right…there are certain steps to follow and that’s where the issue comes in. Once we get the product home, we find out that there’s actually an extensive workout involved, along with a diet plan of foods that we don’t want to eat. Suddenly the workout that we saw on T.V. with the people bouncing around and smiling doesn't seem so fun any more. We then realize that we have pretty much bought a cheaper version of what Jenny Craig or Balley’s offers, except we don’t get a counselor to support and help us along the way. We may even try to stick with the plan for a while, but not seeing those fast results we end up getting discouraged and then giving up. So now you feel like you’ve wasted 3 payments of $29.99 because you bought the "idea" of a perfect workout. And that's why these products don't work for everybody. When you get down to it, what some think is suppose to be easy, turns out to be just another exercise. The truth is, EVERY workout requires effort, time and patience in order to see results.
Pay close attention when you watch the commericals, there is a fine print at the bottom of the screen that says "results not typical." But hardly anyone ever reads it, but you're really not meant to see it. But as I said some of the exercises do work and the testimonies are probably real. And I stress that "Probably" So no, it isn't a scam, really. The real crime of these businesses is "Over Exaggeration," but that is one of the things that helps them sell their products.
