How to lose weight fast and healthy

Being healthier, looking better and feeling better about yourself, as well as having more energy are just some of the most important reasons for overweight or obese people to lose weight. The problem with many people who want to lose weight is that they are not determined enough. Another problem is that most overweight people do not set realistic goals and expectations. You cannot lose weight over night. In fact, it is advisable that you only lose about one or two pounds a week, so you do the math! A sudden weight loss is definitely neither healthy, nor efficient. Losing a lot of weight in a short amount of time is virtually impossible, unless you subject your body to radical actions, such as starving. It is not healthy because this process needs to take place slowly, so that your body can get used to the changes. Furthermore, even if you are on a diet, you still need to provide your body with some essential nutrients. If you fail to do that, the effects will show both at the surface and on the inside. Your skin will lose its elasticity, not to mention that you could seriously damage some internal organs, such as your stomach or your liver. Moreover, more often than not, a sudden weight loss is ineffective. Most people who go on a strict diet gain all the pounds they had managed to lose once the diet is over. It is therefore very important that you opt for a healthy weight loss, which should include a balanced diet and a lot of exercise. For a healthy weight loss, it is highly advisable that you do not lose more than two pounds a week. It may take longer than you expected or wanted, but it is best that you lose weight gradually.

A healthy weight loss plan should take into account a series of factors. These include your age and your health status, your physiological make-up and your genetic traits, the amount and kind of food that you eat, the time you allot to physical activity and whether or not you exercise regularly, and whether you respond to stress with food. If you take all these factors into consideration and try to find the most appropriate solution for you, healthy weight loss can be a guarantee. People are very different as far as their genetic and physical traits are concerned, and not all ways to lose weight are effective to everyone. This is the reason why you should not consider any of those ‘miracle-working' solutions. Products and programs that promise easy and fast results should definitely be ignored because they simply cannot ensure healthy weight loss. And if your health status is your number one reason to lose weight (which it should be!) you must go for a healthy weight loss.

How can healthy weight loss be achieved? First of all, it takes determination and patience. It will take some time before results become visible, but when they do, they will be permanent. Second of all, there is no better combination to ensure healthy weight loss than a strict yet balanced diet combined with regular physical activity. There is not much to cut back on as far as your diet is concerned. As long as you opt for lean meat and fish instead of fat meat, replace fat dairy products with low fat ones, and cut back on pastries, cookies, cakes, and sweets, everything will be just fine. In addition to that, you should eat less salted foods, and use little or no salt at all when you are preparing your own meals. Include a lot of fruit and fresh vegetables in your diet, and you've got yourself a healthy diet, which will provide your body with essential minerals and vitamins, as well as help you lose weight. As far as the physical activity goes, long walks in the park or a little jogging is more than enough to begin with. And as your body get used to physical effort, you can move on the exercises at home or at the gym.
