3Tips For A Successful Weightloss Program
Is it time for you to lose weight? Or are you trying to, but failing with your current weight loss program? You are not alone. Fast weight loss programs and trendy diets have lured many an unsuspecting man and woman into yo-yo weight loss and gain cycles and it can be very frustrating.
As far as weight loss programs go, slow and steady wins the race and you will fail pretty fast if your program is not something you can easily stick to for the long haul. If you dread the diet you are on, you will have a hard time overcoming temptation and go back to your old ways of eating. Fast results will keep you motivated, but to reach your long term goals for weight loss, program these three tips into your shotgun start:
1. Purge Your Environment Of Temptations
Temptation comes in many forms: those so called "healthy" boxed foods that are loaded with sugar and calories, the TV commercials that lure you with fast food, and the "fall off the wagon foods" you know are secretly stored in your cupboard. So you need to identify the things you come up against every day that will threaten your weight loss program's goal. Set up your environment to work with you and not against your committment to lose weight.
Get your family together and go through all of the food stored in your home - in your cabinets, refrigerator, and freezer. Let them help you make healthy food choices. Get rid of anything that will sabotage your diet. Not only will this benefit you, your family will also be eating healthier and it will be an educational experience for your kids as they learn what foods are healthy and which ones are not.
2. Schedule Regular Workouts Into Your Routine
There's no way around it, if you want to burn off fat, you need to exercise. However, exercise can't be a hit or miss affair. To get the best results with a weight loss program you need to take the right approach and get serious about your activity level.
Schedule your workouts in advance and consider your workout dates as important as any other appointment you set. Don't miss them and don't make excuses for not working out. Plan your workouts early in the day so you can get them out of the way before you get busy with other life activities. If you wait until evening, you may be stressed and exhausted. In that state of mind, it will be easy to say goodbye to your workout.
3. Be Accountable With Your weight loss program
Let all your friends and your family know you are on a weight loss program and you intend to stick to it. This makes you accountable to them and to yourself as well. If no one knows you are on a diet, it is easier to grab that donut at the office or hot dog for lunch. If your close friends know you are trying to lose weight, it might hold you back from cheating because you don't want to look like a failure in their eyes.
Yes this takes a lot of nerve, but making yourself accountable to your friends is a powerful motivator that can help you stay loyal to your weight loss program. After all, if you don't stick to your plan, you won't get the results you are hoping for.
